PG steel conduit taps are manufactured to DIN 40430 thread form tap dimensions with an 80° thread form (40° per side). These taps are made with USCTI table 302 tap blanks and are available in sizes from PG 7 through PG 48. Standard stock includes bottoming tap chamfer (1 to 2 threads) and plug tap chamfer (3 to 5 threads), with special configurations such as spiral point and spiral flute available.
What thread form do PG taps use?
PG taps use an 80° metric electric thread form, with 40° per side. This thread form is specified in DIN 40430 for steel conduit applications.
What chamfer options are available for PG taps?
Two standard chamfer configurations are stocked:
- Bottoming tap chamfer: 1 to 2 threads
- Plug tap chamfer: 3 to 5 threads
